Off-topic post

So I just finished watching 2012. Great movie. Not one of the best on my list but that's a different story. Anyways, if you havn't watched it, watch it. Now I won't release my feelings about the whole 2012, end of the word argument just yet, because I don't want to start a flame war, but it's a great movie, with great special effects, but not enough to become like Transformers 3 was. I got a great quote from the movie too that I'll start using from now on. "The day we stop fighting for each other, is the day we lose our humanity."

That quote describes us so well in the event of a catastrophe. The world might be a very hateful place at times, but when a big event (such as the Japan earthquake) happens, we all seem to band together to help each other out. Hell, even with the Haiti earthquake, we brought in a shit ton of relief for them. I don't think a lot of the countries could have gotten by without the efforts of not just the US but countries around the globe. I hate seeing people talking about which country is the best and why because no country is the best. They all have their ups and their downs at times, and this is what makes us human. But what really hits it home is the way we fight for each other. It's a beautiful thing if you look at it. Take the movie Independence Day for example. Say that really did happen. Across the globe, we wouldn't be fighting each other, we would lay down our arms against each other, and take up arms against our oppressor. In the end, I think that a major catastrophe is needed to remind us who we really are, and why we were really put on this planet in the first place (no matter what you believe). Honestly, every single person on this planet makes me proud to be human, and you know why? It's because no matter what, we are all for each other. And that's a beautiful thing. It really is.

Remember everyone, Stay Gold.

  1. I never saw it. Roland Emmerich makes a lot of those disaster movies. He's making a new one about some post-apocalyptic movie where the sun is too close and makes everything a desert. Or something. Looks... unique.

  8. Yes, I must disagree. It was alright, but I thought it was too over the top with all of the disasters. They should have made it a more practical disaster like economic collapse, or just focused on one extreme disaster, like tsunamis everywhere, rather than everything at once.

  10. Enjoyed the film but saddened that it added a lot to the primitive 2012 end of the world hype.

  13. This movie.
Ugh, totally disliked it for the scenarios.
The Day After Tomorrow is more preferable in my opinion!
